HARRINGTON SCHOOL 5th GRADE, 1966-67
Morning Star, January 24, 2016, pg. 7
We’ve certainly read much about the local Albion school situation saga and the drive towards annexation in recent weeks. On the "back burner" of the discussions is the fate our elementary school buildings throughout town, as practical decisions will have to be made in the coming months regarding them. The newest one, or more correctly, the last one built, was Harrington School which opened in 1957, nearly sixty years ago. It is sad to see this once vibrant school sit idle, especially due to its close proximity to Albion College.
Occasionally someone provides me with one of those composite elementary school class photographs from the 1960s, and identifies those who are in it. This week from our Historical Notebook in remembrance of Harrington School, we present the 1966-67 Harrington Elementary School 5th grade class of Gertrude Thompson. This is courtesy of Deborah (Collins) Adams. Those who continued their schooling in Albion would have graduated from Albion High School in 1974.

How many of our readers recognize these persons? If you have composite elementary school photos such as this, please let me know. I’d love to feature them in the future here in this column.
