Morning Star, November 7, 2025, pg. 6 We continue with our theme of "Albion - 100 Years Ago." November 2, 1925: "A new restaurant, called the Chatterbox Sandwich Shoppe, opened its doors Sunday in the building owned by B. C. Franklin and formerly occupied by Warner's grocery. November 3, 1925. "Out of 214 Albion High School Students, Only 15 Spend no Nights at Home. If we are to believe the results of a survey recently made amongst the high school students by the senior social problems class, our high school boys and girls will average better than most adults in the use of their spar time and on Sundays. One question asked was "How many nights did you spend at home last week?" Fifteen admitted that they were not at home any night." November 4, 1925. Headline: "Mrs. Mandana Warner Dies at Age of 98 Years. Albion Pioneer, Who Came Here as a Child of 10 Years, Succumbs This Morning to Two Weeks' Illness." November 5, 1925. Headlines: "Dr. Samuel Dickie's Death Occurs Suddenly. Heart Attack is Fatal to Famous Albion Educator. Former Albion College Head is Found Dead in His Bed By his Daughter Today." "Corner Stone Laying of the Parker Inn Saturday Will Be Historic Event." "About 4,000 gallons of gasoline, representing a loss of more than $600, ran into the sewer from a tank-car at the rear of the Albion Co-operative Oil company's filling station on Michigan Avenue this morning." November 7, 1925: "Kresge Gymnasium Dedicated Today. Kresge gymnasium was officially presented to Albion College this morning at the dedication ceremonies held in the yet unfinished auditorium of the $175,000 structure, gift of S. S. Kreske and named in honor of his son, Stanley S. Kresge." "The body of the late Dr. Samuel Dickie will lie in state in the college chapel Sunday from 12:30 to 4 o'clock." November 9,.1925. "The case of the people vs. Aleck Zozulia of Albion, charged with the sale of liquor in violation of the Volstead Act, is to come up in the U.S. district court in Detroit Tuesday, Zozulia was one of several Albion men placed under arrest as a result of raids by federal officers several months ago, instigated it is said by the Ku Klux Klan." November 12, 1925. "The five stores in the block on S. Superior St. just north of Erie St. owned by James Sheldon Riley of Los Angeles, and known as the Sheldon Block, are being equipped with modern new fronts by Weston Brothers, local contractors." November 14, 1925. "Death of Mrs. Wm. Fitch of Cleveland, Ohio. Mrs. Fitch was Miss Mary Grosvenor Peabody, niece of the late Mrs. Adaline Peabody Ranney. She was a graduate of Albion College in the class of 1871. She was the wife of William Fitch, son of Rev. A. M. Fitch who built and occupied for many years the house now used as a Delta Tau Delta fraternity house." November 20, 1925. "Work will begin Monday morning on the grounds on N. Berrien St. for the Albion Lawn Bowling association. Lawn bowling is a new thing in Albion and affords an opportunity for splendid social recreation." November 28, 1925. "The Fire Department is installing the new electric siren and it is expected it will be given a tryout some time Sunday. The two auxiliary sirens are being placed on the roofs of the Albion Motor Sales Company on the corner of Michigan Avenue and N.
